Speaker Change for 24th November Meeting
The new speaker will be Dr Terry Speaks
Title: Talking about Photographs: a personal journey
Terry will be discussing his influences suggesting how we can develop our practice by studying photographic history and those key authors who have spent their time attempting to understand how photographs work. He will argue, using examples, that we can learn how to reflect upon, and develop our practice by exploring archives, exhibitions, photobooks and the vast catalogue of authors who have written about photography in all its forms.
He successfully defended his practice-based PhD thesis, ‘What is Wrong with Disability Imagery: towards a new praxis of social documentary photography’ in 2012.
Terry is a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society awarded in recognition of his work with disabled people and how they are represented in society.
Terry has now retired from undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, which has been his passion since 1993. Prior to that, he had a twenty-year career in broadcasting. He continues to supervise PhD candidates.

Weekly Door Fees - Honesty Policy
Obviously, we cannot physically collect weekly attendance money due to current circumstances, so to make it as easy as possible, we will operate an ‘Honesty Policy’ with Members paying at the end of each quarter, based on the number of meetings attended during that quarter.
Payment Options: Bank Transfer (BACS) or by Cheque
From the start of the new season, free viewing for non-members will be restricted and members attending meetings will be logged by the Membership Secretary, who will email each member with their attendance details at the end of each quarter for payment.
This seems the fairest way to collect entry money and keep the Club stable financially, until normal service resumes.
The only difference would be that you would have to provide your own tea, coffee & biscuits – but you also now have an option to have something stronger if preferred…
